The runway saw a fierce delivery as oiled-down models made a fast-paced march in sexy hood silhouettes from the spring-summer 2018 offering of New York-based designer, LaQuan Smith bouncing to the steezy tune of “Plain Jane” by Asap Ferg.
According to creative director, LaQuan, the show’s dramatic rapid-fire routine was a way to reiterate the message behind the collection. “That was a super high-paced collection with super high energy, very young and very sexy, that’s why we had the models choreographed that way,” he said backstage.
The LaQuan Smith brand continues to see no deviation from its primary aim of catering to the woman in tune with her sensuality as the SS18 collection saw the designer’s improved upon signature high-cut bodysuit, slip dresses with provocative slits and plunging necklines, army fatigues, curve-hugging minis, a varying fabric lineup of plaids, mesh, camels, latex, jacquard, taking on a slightly darker palette of black and jolts of metallic.
The highlight of LaQuan’s showcase was the styling of the pieces with LQS thigh-high boots and plaid straps perfecting the dramatic flair intended.
